If you ask anyone in Beirut what their favourite restaurant is, the majority will undoubtedly say Casablanca. Tucked away on a side street, in an old high-ceilinged Lebanese house facing the beautiful seashore, this brasserie offers exquisite fusion cuisine, mixing far eastern flavours with western twists.
From the sake martini (beware, it’s rather strong!), and the salty and tender grilled octopus, to the mouth-watering fried gyoza filled with shrimp and calamari; everything on the menu is divine. You may munch with a free conscience- as Casablanca is known for only using organic products, most of which come straight from the owner’s farm in the countryside. To add a pinch of humour to your meal, the goofy waiters all wear comical cartoon ties and enjoy teasing their regulars. This place is very much “in” socially speaking and in terms of food –missing out would be a sin.
