Beirut’s tastiest hotels
If, like us, you prefer to continuously stay close to good food, then why not pick a hotel that happens to have a scrumptious restaurant when you next travel? Soon, once we get our invites –one day– we’ll be recommending the most delicious hotels in the world, but for now here are Beirut’s tastiest.
ON A BUDGET
Pasteur St. GemmayzehTelephone: +961 (0)1 562509
Private room for 2 (breakfast included) 50$/night
If you’re on a budget, yet want to stay central and be able to grab a good bite all night, then Saifi Urban Gardens is your best bet. This hostel happens to have a self-service eatery called “Em Nazih”, that serves home-cooked Lebanese dishes that aren’t half bad.
Geara building, Armenia St. Mar Mikhael
Telephone: +961 (0)1 444110
Room prices vary between 50-90$/night
Located in the trendy –thus unfortunately loud– neighborhood of Mar Mikhael, this adorable high-ceilinged guesthouse and its lovely back garden make quite the blissful refuge. Every morning, the friendly staff prepares a fresh homemade cake – and every two weeks hosts an exotic buffet-feast (think Sri Lankan, Vietnamese, etc.)
SOMETHING IN BETWEEN
Khenchara Str, Mar Mikhael
Telephone: +961 (0)1 566898
Café open daily from 8am-1am, restaurant open daily from noon-3pm, 8pm-1am
Double room for 185$/per night
Not only is this place absolutely gorgeous – with its high ceilings and Art nouveau décor– but its restaurant also happens to be remarkable. Their refined gourmet menu includes French dishes, such as Steak Tartare prepared tableside, and the most orgasmic fruit meringue you’ll ever eat.
ON A SPLURGE
Rafic Al Hariri Str. Ain El Mreisseh
Telephone: +961 (0)1 369280
Double room for 250$/night
While the hotel may be a little stuffy, the fact that it holds two delicious restaurants alone makes us want to book a room. First there’s La Petite Maison –a French Mediterranean restaurant that serves fresh delicacies– and then there’s Sydney’s –a 24/7 cozy gentlemen club type eatery with a view on the sea.
Professeur Wafic Sinno Avenue, Minet El Hosn
Telephone: +961 (0)1 761000
Double room for 300$/night
While we do hate to judge a book by its cover, The Four Seasons stays true to its name. From the impeccable service and the sublime rooftop pool to their carnivorous “The Grill Room” restaurant and their absolutely beautiful (!!) breakfast selection, this hotel’s got it all.
137 Abdel Wahab El Inglizi St. Achrafieh
Telephone: +961 (0)1 339797
Standard suite for 375$/night
Part of the “Relais Chateau” chain, this one is quite the charmer. If you’d like to sleep in a boudoir, have an authentic Lebanese breakfast on a heavenly terrace and savour some Italian perfection –at the downstairs restaurants, where they happen to host “Le Festival de La Gastronomie” every year– then we can’t recommend a better place.
Martyrs’ Sq, Downtown
Telephone: +961 (0)1 972000
Double room for 385$/night
Many Beirutis consider this one to be their personal favourite. Le Gray is centrally located, has immaculate service, and an absolutely exquisite rooftop restaurant –and pool. The only downside is the hotel’s bland ground floor café/restaurant, which we simply recommend that you avoid.
