3 Delicious Restaurants in Calvi
Corsica is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. The beaches are stunning and the food is divine. While Corsicans aren’t such big fans of Paris (make sure never to go there with a Parisian license plate, as your car might get keyed), Corsica has understandably become a favourite holiday destination amongst Parisians.
Planning to discover it for yourself? Here are 3 unmissable restaurants.
A Piazzetta, Calvi
This charming restaurant is located on a piazza in the heart of Calvi, right by the stunning citadel. Dishes are incredibly tasty, hearty and affordable– and portions are massive (and by massive, we mean one main is more than enough for 2 people). We strongly recommend the veal chop (Côtes de Veau Piazzetta), which is incredibly tender and comes with a mushroom sauce and crispy garlicy potatoes or the Jumbo shrimps tagliatelle, which are lip-smackingly good.
Tip: this spot doesn’t take reservations, so make sure to come by earlier rather than later – bearing in mind that 8pm is early in Corsica.
Le Matahari, Lumio
Located on a dreamy sandy beach, Le Matahari makes the ideal spot for chic beach lunches or romantic candle-lit dinners. Dishes are pricey but the stunning setting and delicious flavours make up for it. The scampi pennes and their creamy sauce are well worth the detour but aren’t exactly on the cheap side (36€).
Are you a sucker for a breath-taking view? Cararella is the place for you. Head over there just before the sunset, order some refreshing rosé and a selection of 10 piattini to share (46€). Served on ceramic tableware made by a neighbour, the assortment includes tapenade, hummus, saucisson, coppa, goats’ cheese with fig jam and many other tasty treats.
Make sure to take a stroll around Pigna, which is the cutest micro-village filled with gourmet boutiques!
